In each area served by a Cobalt PoP facility, Cobalt may use a combination of landline and wireless technology to reach your home. This is dependent upon the terrain, and the needs of our customers. Whether service arrives at your home through the air or through a wire, you will need a router for ingress and egress of your data traffic.

With landline DSL or T1 circuits, Cobalt supports Cisco equipment only, but our customers are free to use non-supported devices if they so choose. With wireless DSL or T1 service, Cobalt will supply you with a small device that contains all of the components necessary for you to have a simple plug-and-play experience. Regardless of the technology employed, all of Cobalt’s signaling are symmetrical meaning the same speed in and out. This means that our customers will have great experiences with VoIP, gaming, and video conferencing.

Both landline and wireless technologies are extremely reliable and can achieve speeds in excess of 150 Mbps, depending upon the specific applications. Wireless technology, not to be confused with Satellite which is slow, is becoming more and more commonplace with almost 80% of the computers manufactured today containing wireless components. Due to this, Cobalt allows all of our customers the ability to roam to different Cobalt markets and have access to the Internet free-of-charge.
